TRAVELING HOME SCHOOLERS

More and more families are choosing to home school their children. Traveling home schools, or road schools, are a growing alternative to traditional public schools. Children learn about American history, math, science, and how to care for and protect their environment by experiencing these subjects “hands on.”

Homeschooling is legal in the United States, but requirements vary widely throughout each state.  A family must follow the home schooling laws of the state they reside in, but only if they are in that state for one month or more.

It is important to be a resident of a state that supports parents that choose to home school or road school.  Texas is one of the states that is very friendly to home schooling families. The Texas Home School Coalition is very active in bringing home school interests before the Texas State legislation. Texas senators and representatives stand up for parental rights and work to protect parent’s choices to home school.
